The phrase wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo (“you strike a woman, you strike a rock”) has come to represent women’s courage and strength in South Africa.
Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in South African history.
One woman who has displayed courage, strength and extreme determination is none other than the founder/director of WOW; (Wentworth Organisation Of Women) Patricia Dove.
A closer look at her charitable attributes reveal just how complex, fascinating, and magnetic this lovely lady can be. Highly intelligent and very courageous, she is no pushover. In fact, when this woman decides what she wants, she’ll go after it regardless of the challenges in her way. Like Hillary Clinton, she is audacious. Her aim is to empower and develop women, children and the community in which they live, work and play.
Whether it’s her almost glass-like eyes or her Mona Lisa smile, this lady just radiates good energy. With her great capacity for kindness, she has a true desire to do good in the world. She has an amazing ability to connect with people who are suffering or in pain.
When you add all these traits together, Mrs Dove may actually be one of the nicest, kindest, most good-natured people you’ve ever met. Her doors are always open to the community in need.
